The right tool can make all the difference when you are doing a job. Impact drills or impact guns are essential for performing heavy duty tasks where a lot of power is needed. These drills are not traditionally consumer tools and many times require other devices in order to be used effectively. Recently, well known drill makers such as DeWalt, Bosch and Makita have introduced electric cordless impact drill models that are relatively inexpensive and use batteries for power instead of compressed air. These models are not as powerful as traditional impact guns yet are far more powerful than a traditional cordless or corded drills.

Accessories for Impact Drills
If you are in the market for an impact gun, the types of jobs you will be using it for will determine what to buy. For instance if you are planning on doing auto repairs, a better investment would be an air powered gun. For this you will need an air compressor that has at least a 5 horse power engine can deliver about 125psi. This will be enough power to remove lug nuts from wheels or stubborn bolts on a vehicle. You may also have to purchase an adapter kit to attach the hose of a compressor to the impact gun. While not completely necessary, a set of automotive impact sockets is also a good investment as traditional sockets sometimes cannot withstand the pressure put on them from using an impact gun.
Impact drills are great heavy duty tools for some jobs. If you get an air powered version you will need accessories like a compressor to run it. 
Alternatively you can obtain an electric model if you have jobs that do not require as much power.
