Tool Sets
Just buying any old tool set from a vendor can lead to a life of misery. I've plenty of cheap tool sets and I can tell you, most of them have broken or been trashed over the years. While on the other hand, the tool sets from name brand makers are still working for me day in and day out. It seems every once in a while I have to learn this lesson over. The scenario goes something like this. There is some type of Big Tent sale or Tool Expo going on in my town. I know it's nothing but cheap Chinese tools, but I end up going. "You never know". That's my motto when I go to one of these things.
Are Cheap Tool Sets Worth The Money?
And as usual, I find a tool or tool set at rock bottom prices that I just can't pass up. Usually after I use it a time or two the pieces start breaking and I start cussing!
I don't know if it's age or experience, but I get suckered in a lot less these days by those cheap tool vendors. I know try to only buy good quality tools from name brand makers that I'm familiar with. Names such as Craftsman, Proto, Snap On and others. I've learned that by spending just a little more on quality tools, I won't have near as many problems with them in the future. It's also why I choose to by my tools from Amazon.com. They have a great return policy, the best I've seen on the Internet, and they have the highest class of customer returns. They've always went out of their way for me the few times I had a problem with a tool set I purchased from them.
Why I Buy My Tool Sets From Amazon
Some people find it interesting that Amazon carries tools. Others find it more interesting when they find out that Amazon has some of the lowest prices on tool sets of any retailer, locally or online! Low prices are one reason I buy my tool sets online, the FREE SHIPPING that comes with most tool sets on Amazon is another. Plus, I save a lot of money by not having to pay State and Local sales tax when I buy tool sets from Amazon! That can add up to a lot of pocket change real quick!
For example, let's say you bought a $100 tool set from Amazon. In a lot of areas around here, I would pay around 9 to 10% local taxes if I'd bought that same set off of a retail store near me. So I saved nearly $10 right there! Plus, the local retail stores are generally $20 to $40 higher than Amazon. So on the conservative side, my savings are at $30 on that $100 tool set! (in reality, my savings will be a lot more when I figure that my local big box store is quite a bit higher than Amazon, and I didn't have to burn $3.50 a gallon gas to get there and put up with the hassle of buying it from them!)Plus, I get Free Shipping and a 'no questions asked' return policy. And my tools arrive pretty quick, right to my doorstep! What's not to love about shopping Amazon.Com for tools?!
